For its second last oenology trip, the Best Western Premier four-star Hotel Regent’s Garden is setting off for its 11th port of call in the country of Uncle Sam: the United States.
World tour of organic and natural wines
Set to conquer American wines! And why the United States? Because the United States have been producing wine for a very long time. It is generally accepted that the Indian nations from the Great Lakes area gathered grapes and preserved them by drying. Today, things have changed greatly; wine is produced in the fifty states of the Union, with California in the lead, followed by Washington State, Oregon and New-York. Note that the United States is one of the largest producers of wine in the world.
This 11th port of call will be orchestrated by Régis Hardouin-Finez from “Le Vin Partagé”. A company with a very appropriate name (‘wine shared’) since it allows people to share aromas and savours at wine tasting events that are relaxed, entertaining and instructive. Régis Hardouin-Finez subscribes to an ethical logic that respects the environment. He carefully picks out wines with “organic”, “dynamic-organic” or “natural” labels. With good humour and attention, Régis approaches wine simply and unpretentiously, while respecting its elegance, the winegrowing area and its history.
A graduate from a major business school, Régis is passionate about wine and gourmet food. Project leader, head wine steward on a luxury liner, he now organises events for business companies and works as a consultant for Figaro Club Vin.
The following wines will be presented:
- White, Chardonnay, Santa-Barbara County, Au Bon Climat, 2009 - Red, Pinot Noir, Santa-Barbara County, Au Bon Climat, 2009 - Red, Zinfandel, Santa-Cruz Mountains, Ridge Vineyard, 2006 - Red, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Joseph Phelps, 2008,
